On Wednesday, May 20, at 6:30 p.m., the Figueres Library will host the lecture “Conxita Badia, Much More Than a Muse”, part of the Figueres Clàssica series. The event, organized by the Fages de Climent Library, the Casino Menestral Figuerenc and the Joan Manén Association, will be given by pianist and musicologist Alícia Daufí.

Concepció Badia i Millàs, known as Conxita Badia (Barcelona, 1897–1975), was the Catalan soprano and lied singer with the most distinguished career of the 20th century. A source of inspiration for numerous composers, many of them dedicated a large number of songs to her and entrusted her with the premieres of many others.

In this lecture, Alícia Daufí, pianist and musicologist, will highlight and reclaim the legacy of the soprano, who became a key figure in the dissemination of Catalan and South American art song repertoire.
