Adolf Ventas
(Amposta, 1919- Amposta, 2014)





He studied music at the Lira Ampostina and made his first concert at age 14 with the Banda La Lira. He founded his orchestra in 1947. Adolf Ventas was a saxophone soloist of the Banda Municipal de Barcelona and collaborated with the Orquestra del Gran Teatre del Liceu and with the Orquestra Simfònica de Bacelona i Nacional de Catalunya. He worked as a saxophone teacher at the Barcelona Conservatory and published five manuals of the instrument. In 1978 he founded the Barcelona Saxophone Quartet, for which he wrote several pieces and transcriptions. He performed concerts in Europe and the Middle East. Apart from working as a musician, Ventas also worked, in the sixties, as musical director of the Barcelona label Belter.

Amposta dedicated a place to him and the Adolf Ventas Music Composition Competition for Band.
